Remove DVD discs from the draw.

Before you can hack the DVD you have to set the command mode of the machine to 1. This is not too difficult. First see if the hack remote works. If the hack remote works (play, pause stop, power etc) then the machine is already on command mode 1.Use the original remote control to go in the setup menu. Locate the command mode / command frequency. Menu option setup >> other >> command freq. Or Initial >> options >> command freq.

You will have to change the command mode of the original remote control too. If it has a switch change to 1. If is doesn't have a switch, hold enter and 1 down together for 10 seconds. Now both the original remote control and the hack remote will be working the DVD.

There is one more fun thing you need to do before you can use the magic yellow button on the hack remote. You will need to put the DVD into service mode. See instructions for this below for your model. Note. it will say "Mecha lock" first then "service in", so keep holding / turning until it says "service in"

So with the hack remote working (power/play etc) and the machine saying service in (a service screen is usually showing on the TV with option 0..9).Hold down on yellow button for 5 seconds then release. Keep pointed at the DVD player

Data Reset usually shows. Sometimes the hack works fine but you don't see Data Reset. I have pressed 0 then the option showing on the TV to return to main service option then held/released the yellow. Either way you can turn the mains off and try a region 1 disc.

Hold both STOP and EJECT down, whilst held down press volume+ control. On machine not remote control!

Black and white picture. If the disc now plays but is in black and white or picture is flashing; Go in to the setup menu and change the video output LINE 1 to RGB

DVD draw locked; Hold both stop and eject down for 5 seconds. (This is a dealer lock used in stores to stop kids/thieves taking demo DVDs)
