Before you buy a new remote please be aware that these units are prone to problems with the unit itself rather than the remote control.
To check your remote, point it at a mobile phone camera and see if the light flashes when you press the buttons.
To repair the unit open and locate the part on the front panel. (only a few screws need to be removed) Then re-solder the 3 joints shown below. A good TV repair shop will be able to do this for about £15 (it is only 20 minutes work)
